Rock Presbyterian Church voted this past Sabbath to join the Evangelical Presbyterian Church; I am already in the process of transferring into the Mid-Atlantic presbytery. I have a mound-o-paperwork to finish, but it does not seem so difficult. We are very happy with this situation. The vote was unanimous.

Im not sure what all that means, but I somehow feel very happy for you. I want to visit your church next time I visit.

The EPC is a good denomination (and sometimes I feel like it will be the only denomination that I have a chance to be ordained in) and soon enough there might be quite a few more churches in that denomination with the direction that the PCUSA is heading and many PCUSA churches looking for a way out.

David, sort of related to the previous comments regarding church government, Rock has been independent for 10 years, which is odd for a presbyterian church; but, our congregation voted to join the EPC and be connectional again and accountable to a presbytery. Joey like very much

Very nice. So is the presbytery like a national board of directors that you are accountable to? How does a presbytery keep you accountable. (Sorry, i am very novice to the presbyterian formula. I could look it up but rather hear it from a reliable source aka Joey Johnson.)
Regardless, I am so happy God is blessing your church. Do you still hand out fill in the blank notes? Hahaha! Those were the days man!!!

The presbytery is composed of all ordained ministers in a geographical region and the churches they represent. Presbyteries then are part of the larger General Assembly, that meets once a year. Think of it in terms of courts: if a matter cannot be settled by the local court, we go to the SC Supreme court and then to the US Supreme court. There are matters sometime that the local church needs assistance in and the next step is presbytery involvement; also, it is the presebytery technically that ordains ministers to serve in churches, it aids in planting them, etc. Hope this helps.
